Tomorrow's another day

I went to our high school basketball game today so excited to watch the boys play and get to substate. Our guys were really good this year and have so much heart, drive, and dedication so I knew they'd be able to pull it off.

The game started off great and at one time we had a 10-point lead. However, it soon got close and stayed close throughout the entire game. At the last second, one of my good friends threw up a shot and it barely made it in. That bucket was the bucket that caused the game to go into overtime, 41-41.
Overtime started off rough with the opposing team scoring three points right off the bat. It went back and forth for a while and at one point I think they were up by six points with two minutes or so left in the game. I really thought it would be over now. However, our boys stepped up and shot threes. Boys that I didn't think could shoot threes, made them! It really seemed like God was on our side.

We fouled a lot causing the same guy to shoot over and over again. Of course, he always made it. Soon, with eight seconds left, the score was 54-55, not us. We fouled causing the guy to shoot once again. However, this time, he missed not one, but both of his freethrows. We still had a chance! With eight seconds left, the boys flew down the court. With just one second left on the buzzer, a guy shoots the ball and scores as the buzzer goes off.

Our crowd went absolutely wild. I looked down at the court and saw all the boys' faces light up. They were sooooo happy to have won and ready to celebrate. Soon after, the mood changed. The refs decided not to count the winning bucket leaving us 54-55, losing the game.

It was the most heartbreaking game I think I have ever watched in my life. My friend, he lives for basketball. To see them lose and see his face, crushed me. It was a hard lose, harder than anyone could imagine.

All I have to say is it was a fantastic game and they played their hearts out. They're all still winners to me.

My List

I've had an ongoing list of what I want in my future boyfriend or husband. I honestly think my expectations are way too high here but I have decided that I'm not going to settle for just anyone. Even my next boyfriend, I already feel sorry for him, because he's probably going to have to go through a lot. Especially putting up with someone like me! Nah, I don't think I'll be too hard on him. Who knows....He just needs to meet some of these things listed below because I don't just fall for anyone. That's probably the reason I've only have two boyfriends...it takes me awhile to fall for someone and I'll only consider them my boyfriend if I know that it'll work out for a long, long time. So enjoy this friends. Tell me if I'm crazy?

* someone who will take late night walks with me
* someone who will sit and drink hot chocolate with me in the early mornings and cold December nights
* someone who will walk in the rain with me

"Yeah, we laugh way too hard and act too immature but I wouldn't have it any other way."

Everyone girls needs a good guy friend. I am here to tell you about mine. First of all his name is Andrew and he is one of the coolest people I know. Andrew and I go waaaay back. I'm talking like way back to the awkward stages of life. I've known him since kindergarten. My early childhood memories of Andrew include him being scared of girls and thinking they all had cooties up until like fifth grade. My oh my how the times have changed! He also was always into weather and science. I'm pretty sure he won science fairs! Haha. Andrew used to live on my block in my old neighborhood and we would hang out every so often. He was part of my group that included two other guys and two other girls. Our parents were all close friends and active members of our elementary school.

However, in sixth grade I had to move two hours away from all of my friends including Andrew. However, we all found ways to stay in touch. I think one time I came up for a homecoming and got to go to a dance with my ol' buddy Andrew. He had three dates that year including me and my two good friends.
I also would come visit during Christmas breaks and during the summers to spend a couple days with my friends. However, it wasn't until last summer that Andrew and I became closer and better friends.

I've gotten to know a whole new side of him that I never knew growing up. I mean, he had always been there, but he hadn't BEEN there. It's kind of confusing I guess unless you're in our situation.

Andrew is always there when I need him. I know I can go to him if I have a problem. He's had to listen to me whine about stupid boys. He's even had to help motivate me to get off my lazy butt and apply for jobs. Sometimes, I think he believes in me more than I believe in myself. I don't think I could ever thank him enough!

Andrew is a great person all around. He is a great friend and would do almost anything for the people he cares about. He's also absolutely hilarious. We have so many inside jokes and funny things that we talk about. Oh, and he's actually one of those people that I have no problem carrying a conversation with, whether it's on msn, in person, or on the phone (and we all know how much of a phone talker I am!) We just recently decided to have a competition. We're both always using the tongue:P face and we wanted to see how long we could go without using it. So we decided to keep a tally of how many times we used it on msn and such to see who would cave first. He ended up winning. I think the score was like...11-5 or something.

He is extrememly smart and I know he can do anything he sets his mind to. He's involved in so many activities but still has time for the ones he cares about. Also, he's soooo sweet. He's offered to drive me several times to see my friends that live four hours away. We just recently made a list of silly things we want to accomplish in the fall if we attend college together. Things such as: go to the rollerskate rink, go storm spotting, visit far away friends, go to a dance or two, cook dinner, go mini golfing, etc.

Andrew is just someone that I know I can count and I hope he is always in my life.

Haha, I couldn't find anything to blog about tonight so I just asked him and he replied, "Write about me!" So there you are Andrew!

Living life

I swear I'll make this short and sweet because it's one in the a.m.

I start my job at the Hut next Monday I believe. I went in to fill out paperwork today and now I have to wait for my uniform to be ordered and all that jazz. It snowed like crazy on the drive home and my windshield wipers decided to be dumb and not work very hard. Luckily I was only a few miles from my exit at the time.

Life is going well. A couple days ago I was in a blah stage. I don't know what was up with it but I've had a few friends tell me that they're in it too. It's like, where you know you have everything that you could ever ask for but you're just blah. Like..I have my amazing family, good friends near and far, a car, and now I even have a job. I mean, I don't have the best most expensive car and I don't have the most glorious job but I have all I need to get by. I was talking to my mom about it and this is what she replied. "Ok think of it this way. Think about if you lost every single thing you had, and then think about how happy you'd be if you got it all back." Something like that. It makes you think and not take things for granted.

Good quote that matches that. "The happiest people do not have it all, they just make the best of what they got."

I'm ready for summer. I'm always ready for summer honestly. I never really feel the urge for winter......Winter is great from about November up until Christmas time. However, once December 25th is over, I immediately want summer.

Along with summer, I want that short haircut and I'm thinking I'll do it over spring break....so hopefully it'll be warm by then. Here are some possibilities..if anyone reads this, please comment and tell me! One, two, three, or four?!!!

Ignore the bangs

Oh yeah, and that was my idea of short and sweet! Haha!

Finally

"Don't stop, make it pop, DJ blow my speakers up,
Tonight, I'mma fight'til we see the sunlight,
Tick tock on the clock, but the party don't stop, no"

Yeah, I was jammin' to this song. Actually, to tell you the truth, I was dancing to it...all over the house. If you know me at all then you would know that I'm really not a big dancer, but today I was all over the place...dancing. I don't even know who I am today! As I kept dancing around the house, the house phone rang. I stopped, dead in my tracks to see who it was. The caller ID read, Pizza Hut. I swear my heart stopped.
Me: out of breath from dancing "Hello?"
PH Lady: "Hi, is Megan there?"
Me: still trying to catch breath "This is her."
PH: "Hey, I was just wondering if you were still interested in the Pizza Hut Job. I need a morning cook."
Me: "Yes!"
PH: "Ok, well if you could just come down Sunday at 6 p.m. with your driver's license, we can fill out some paper work."
Me: "Sounds great! Thanks"

She probably thought I was crazy, huffing and puffing on the phone. Maybe she'll just think that I was downstairs and had to hurry up the stairs to answer the phone.

But I have a job!!! I'm going to be a cook at Pizza Hut. Ha! How ironic is that? I love pizza....and now I'm going to be making it. Annnnd, the best part, a 50% discount for all employees. Oh my, I'm going to be fat.

I already have the things I want to buy once I get my first pay check. I really don't spent any money right now except for on my car payment once a month and gas to apply at jobs. Of course once school starts back up in the fall it'll be sucking money out of me, which is the main reason I needed the job. College. But, I have to make the job fun so I have a few "fun" things in mind for me to buy for myself.
-1. Get a haircut - I will so have shortish hair by spring and it WILL be cute. Yes, I am trying to reassure myself.
-2. Denim shorts - For summer of course! I can't remember the last time I wore denim shorts. I have white ones but no denim. Usually I'd just cut my short jeans and make them into shorts. Like this:

Disgusting, I know. Mannn, I was TAN.
-3. A webcam - This is VERY important because one of my friends is going super far away to college and I won't ever see her again! Well, who knows, but I need one so we can see each other and such! :)

I made brownies today and they look amazing.

My dad and I always enjoy them with vanilla ice cream so I told mom to pick some ice cream up while she is in town. This reminds me of one more exciting thing.

My dad is maybe coming down tomorrow for the basketball game. I'm pretty excited about this because I haven't spent time with this guy in FOREVER. Too long. I miss him.

And the whole time I've been writing, I've been smelling something disgusting. I just turned around and found a pile of cat poop on the ground. I would take a picture for you all but that's a little disgusting.

Things are looking up?

Well Valentine's Day was quite a success. By success I mean I didn't sit at home not doing anything.

On Monday I headed to the great dentist. I didn't think that I had been there in five years so I was scared that they wouldn't even remember me. Turns out I was there just a few summers ago, the exact date - 6/25/07. So, my bad, only three years! Ha....still pretty horrible. The reason I had to go to the dentist was to make sure I didn't have a horrible abscess tooth. On Valentine's Day I woke up with my jaw and back part of my gum in some serious pain so I just went to get all that checked out. My dentist just told me that it was an infection and gave me some pills, some BIG pills. I'm not a fan of pills AT ALL. I actually avoid taking pills because they freak me out, especially the capsule ones. I pondered breaking one open to see what surprises it held inside but I decided against it because I figured that'd just scare me more.

So I'm stuck taking those monsters three times a day. Oh, and my dentist told me that I needed to get the dreaded wisdom teeth out ASAP. Lovely. Anyone have any stories they care to share? Ha ha.

Today, I headed on another job adventure. Left my resume with a few places that weren't accepting applications and then filled out a few. I filled one out at Pizza Hut and the assistant manager asked to interview me right there. I was pretty excited and think I have a pretty good chance getting that one. He even said I'd make good tips :P

Other than all that, life is okay. I've really been down lately. Not quite depressed (I don't think I've ever been DEPRESSED) but pretty close. It usually only happens once a year where I get like this and it doesn't last long at all. It's been going on for two days now and I still haven't cried (I hate crying and try not to do it). Today was pretty good though so I might be getting better! I even went for a run!

Sorry there's not many pictures and too many words. I guess this was just an update.
Oh, and I found a good song the other day. I think it's old news but I like it.
George Strait - "Gotta get to you"

Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day to all you lovers and all you singles! :) I still happen to be among those single ones. Crazy, I know. Ha! I think I'm going to go hang out with Dylan and Patrick later tonight. I'm not sure who the third wheel is..I think it might be me. Well, here is an exciting Valentine's post for you kids with some of my favorite love quotes!

"If you're not willing to sound stupid then you don't deserve to be in love."

"Sometimes the two people that are meant to be are the last to realize it."

"Hi" is such a small word; but from the right person it can mean everything"

"You know you're in love when you can't fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams."

"The best kind of kiss is the one where you have to stop because you can't help but smile."

"And after awhile, you just want to be with the one who makes you laugh."

"Love does not consist in gazing at each other, but looking together in the same direction."

"Love is missing someone whenever you're apart, but somehow feeling warm inside because you're close in heart."

"I ran up the door, opened the stairs, said my pajamas and put on my prayers, turned off my bed, and tumbled into my light and all because you kissed me goodnight."

"And I'd rather be standing outside in the freezing cold with you, than to be warm in the arms of someone else."

"I love you not only because of who you are but for who I am when I am with you."

"You know he loves you when someone else makes you laugh and he smiles for the simple fact that you're smiling."

"When she talks to you, listen to her voice. She may be talking about the weather, but she's screaming she loves you."

"Anyone can be passionate but it takes real lovers to be silly."

"The magic of our first love is our ignorance that it’ll never end."

"It's amazing
 how much you
 can put up with
 from people you
 like."

"If you wait to long for the perfect moment, the perfect moment will pass you by."

Reds and pinks

Valentine’s Day has been a fun holiday ever since elementary school. It was always fun decorating a Valentine box to bring to school. I remember picking out my Valentines and trying to match each one to a specific person in my class.

As I grew older it had more of a meaning with just that one special person. Throughout the years I have received poems, flowers, stuffed animals, and candy from boyfriends for Valentine’s day. I was so lucky to have the sweet boyfriends that I did. There are a few particular Valentine’s Days that stand out from the rest.

In seventh grade, I got my first boyfriend. I freaked out when Valentine’s Day got closer and closer. I wasn’t used to having someone to shop for.

On the big day I walked into one of my classrooms and found a white carnation with a note from my boyfriend lying on my desk. At our school, we were able to purchase a carnation or cookie with a personal message for our loved ones. I was so excited to find one on my desk. Another girl in my class received a flower as well from her boyfriend. She was more popular than me and always had a different boyfriend for Valentine’s Day so it really wasn’t much of a surprise. I remember her asking me, “Isn’t it nice having a boyfriend?” I just smiled knowing that she was one of those girls that would never have to go without one; the flower and note meant so much more to me. Yes, I still have them because I’m the sappy, sentimental type of girl.

Then there was my senior year in high school. As I arrived into school on the 14th, I found a huge balloon hanging above my locker. I came to find out that this wasn’t just an ordinary balloon; it was a singing balloon! All you had to do was tap it and it would sing a cute song. All day, numerous people would punch it and I would hear that same song down the hallway and during my classes. It was one of the sweetest Valentine gestures ever.

I just thought I'd share those past experiences with you all. I’m totally cool with being alone this Valentine’s Day because I know that I’ve had some good ones in the past. I can’t expect to have that special someone by my side every 14th of February. Plus, I have the best friends and family a girl could ask for! This year, it’s going to be me and some chocolate.

But, to those of you who do have that special someone, enjoy him or her. Don’t take your relationship for granted because next year, it could be you alone on V-day!

With friends like mine, who needs boys?

Hmmm, what to update you all on. The past week hasn't been all that exciting, but this weekend was so much fun. Nicole and Jocelyn came down and we had a blast. We all hung out together at the homecoming and saw a few of our old friends. We helped Christa get ready and prepared to be the 2010 Homecoming queen!

Mainly the weekend was full of a lot of junk food, movies, laughter, and pictures. Jocelyn and I were able to hang out all day Saturday together. It was good to get a chance to catch up and hang out just one on one with her. We made hilarious videos for Andrew and Justin and cracked up. It was sooooo much fun.

It just stinks now because they're gone. It's the awful empty feeling inside because I miss them so much. I'll go downstairs and see the remains of my friends such as all the blankets.....Now they're back to being four hours away from me. Hopefully I get up there though sometime soon. Maybe when I get back to college in the fall, I'll only be an hour and a half from them. I'll even be an hour closer to Lindsay. Then it'll just be Christa that is my SUPER far away friend...:(

So I've been without pop for a week but I've been slamming some serious Gatorade. Haha. Still, my heart has been hurting....so I might need to give up all sweets? Hmm, I don't know. I ate an apple today, hoping that the saying "An apple a day keeps the doctor away" is true.

Hopefully I'll have a nice Valentine's post up soon!
Hope everyone is doing well.
